Sissy Spacek Spends 73th Birthday With Spouse Of 50 Yrs: They Sold Posh Home, Moved To Farm And Are Happy Now.
Sissy Spacek is a well-known singer and actress with several honors to her name, yet despite her celebrity, she and her husband of 50 years, Jack Fisk, enjoy one of the oldest and strongest marriages in Hollywood. The couple recently converted their barn into a recording and painting studio.
Spacek admired her husband, calling him a great artist from whom she learned so much. The actress also attributes her great success to her choice to go on a farm and the relationship she enjoys with her husband.
She claims that they both fully understand each other’s sympathies and motives, so they let each other pursue their passions. Spacek is happy to be in her 70s and still have such a vibrant relationship, despite the fact that time has flown by.
The actress also enjoys expressing her artistic side in her garden, where she revealed that she has added peonies and trees and proudly stated that her garden is beautiful as a result of her hard work.
Spacek enjoys his quiet life on the farm; one of her favorite pastimes is sitting on the porch with a battery powered fan and admiring her surroundings.
While she adores her lavish possessions, Spacek also appreciates her husband’s sense of humor, which is as beautiful as it is terrifying, she said.
But now that she will turn 73 on Christmas Day, the actress was asked how her relationship with her children has evolved, and she said that their roles have changed and they now look after her.
To name a few examples of how her children have helped, the actress said that whenever they are at the airport, they will be the ones leading the way to the gate.
However, her descendants often appreciate the life she was given as a child and reciprocate by taking care of her. Spejcek’s eldest, Schuler, took over and had a fantastic singing voice; her youngest, like her father, is a graphic artist.
At the height of her fame, Spacek and her husband decided to leave the city for rural Virginia, selling their property in Topanga Canyon.
The couple acquired an estate in Virginia to escape Hollywood and live a quieter life. Spacek made the choice not only for their sanity, but also to provide her daughters with a regular childhood.
The actress realized that it is easy to be fascinated by the “life of a movie star”, so she wanted her children and husband to have a different and calmer life.
Spacek stated that she should live a regular life and be around “normal people”, which she did. Despite her fame, the actress does her own grocery shopping and helps train the horses she and Fisk own.
Moving to the farm benefited both her children and her marriage. Her children learned what it was like to have an “even between the fingers” and rooted upbringing, and she got to spend more time with Fisk.
In addition, the mother of two felt it was important to provide her children with a childhood that allowed them to make mistakes without the burden of the media.
The longtime couple met on the set of Badlands in 1972, as she watched and Fisk created the set. The actress stated that she and her husband did not really believe in marriage; in fact, after they got married, they deposited $30 into their bank account for divorce expenses.
But that $30 was never used because Spacek and Fisk only got stronger and both couldn’t imagine life without each other.
